Posted 1.30.2017 WMQFA 2017 Strawberry Challenge No Entry Fee – Limit 1 entry per person. Qualifications: 1) Entry may be a quilt or fiber art, 2) strawberry themed and 3) submitted with entry form between May 24 and June 1, 2017. Two categories: Category 1: Ages 15 and younger Category 2: Ages 16 and up Open voting by the public June 3 – 22, 2017Entries will be on display in the museum lobby. The public can come in and vote for their favorite piece through June 22. But entries will be on display through the weekend of Strawberry Festival. Posted 1.30.2017 Third Fiber Arts Biennale: Keeping Warm You are invited to enter your fiber artwork in the Third Fiber Arts Biennale: Keeping Warm. This exhibition will be held December 7, 2017, through March 11, 2018, at the Wisconsin Museum of Quilts & Fiber Arts. Any current Wisconsin resident or group is invited to enter up to two handcrafted fiber artworks. The museum is searching for examples of all fiber arts media throughout the state under the unified theme “Wisconsin’s winters are cold, but we know how to keep warm.” The exhibit title is Keeping Warm and will be a playful look at the way we deal with the winter months (in practical and whimsical fashion). Kits used for any media are not acceptable. The museum will only accept photographs of completed artwork as entries. Final selections from these photographs will be included in this special exhibit. A international quilt exhibition celebrating the legacy of Prince, the artist and his music. The exhibition at Textile Center in Minneapolis will open March 9, 2017, and run through April 29, 2017, in the Joan Mondale Gallery. On April 21, 2016, Minnesota lost one of its great cultural icons, and Textile Center’s exhibition will celebrate Prince’s life in observance of the first anniversary of his death. This is exhibition will be juried by Dr. Carolyn Mazloomi, a Bess Lomax Hawes National Heritage Fellow, founder of the Women of Color Quilters Network (WCQN), 2016 inductee to the Quilters Hall of Fame Museum, and member of Textile Center’s National Artist Advisory Council. Artists age 18 and older may submit up to three works for jury consideration. For all the info, CLICK HERE!

Additional accent colors of Cherrywood may be added. Embellishments may be added with the exception of glitter. Entries can include artwork such as contemporary gallery pieces, wall hangings, 3-dimensional fiber sculpture, wearable art of all types, handcrafted jewelry, and holiday ornaments. Jurors will focus particularly on craftsmanship and innovative designs. This exhibit is open to all fiber and jewelry artists interested in displaying and selling their work. Fiber arts may include batik, surface design, felting, quilting, rug hooking, spinning, weaving, knitting, fiber sculpture, handcrafted paper and note cards, and needlework. Jewelry arts may include fiber, beading, stone, metal, paper and multimedia.

Posted 6.11.2015. Fabulous Fibers: a fiber art exhibit at Crossings Arts Gallery. Submission Rules: This show is open to residents of Crow Wing, Cass, Morrison, Todd, and Wadena counties in Minnesota. Under the term “fiber art” fall certain techniques such as: knitting, quilting, felting, crocheting, weaving, sewing, basketry, etc. Combinations of materials are accepted; however the main material should be fiber or be produced via traditional fiber-related processes. Artwork must have been created in the past two years and not previously exhibited with TCAA. All work must be ready to install. Artwork must not be larger than 44” wide by 72” long. No artwork shall violate any copyright. All artwork will remain in the gallery for the duration of the exhibit. Posted 11.26.2014 Call for entry: “UnpredicTABLE”. Fine Line Creative Arts Center presents this mixed media exhibition and sale.  Due date is March 2, 2015. Artists are invited to submit original artwork for the theme of “UnpredicTABLE”. Pieces should represent those found at the table, such as tableware, table linens, provisions and decorations; or they should be evocative of the mood set when participants gather at the table for meals, such as paintings, tapestries, etc. Artists are encouraged to apply in any medium. The exhibit will be held in the Kavanagh Gallery at Fine Line Creative Arts Center, a 501(c)(3) notfor-profit art center located in the Western suburbs of Chicago in St. Charles, IL. The dates for the exhibit are July 10 to August 8, 2015. Three jurors will choose from the pool of applicants. Artists are selected on the basis of originality and quality of work. Each selected artist may submit up to 5 pieces for display and sale at the show (2 dimensional/hanging pieces must follow hanging requirements indicated below). The show is produced by Fine Line’s Kavanagh Gallery Committee and will be advertised throughout the Chicagoland area through print media, postcards and on-line advertising. The show charges a sales commission of 30% for any items sold during the show. Fine Line will handle all sales/sales tax and will provide the artist with a check at the end of the show for all sales (less 30% commission). This is a gallery show, so artists need not be present while the show is open. Attendance at the gallery opening is strongly encouraged but not mandatory. Fine Line will handle the show hanging, show opening and sales. This exhibit will include handwoven or handmade fiber forms from fiber and textile artists across the United  States. Artists are encouraged to enter handwoven or handmade fiber forms. The exhibition is open, but not limited to, the following: uniquely designed functional pieces such as coverlets, pillows, tablecloths, garments, rugs, etc., and nonfunctional tapestries, wall hangings, 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional works which have been printed, painted, embellished, felted, woven, knitted, twined, cast paper, quilted, stitched, or other forms of manipulating fiber for art. The Call for Entry deadline is December 29, 2014. There are $7500 in cash and purchase awards anticipated.

Old World Crafts and Education The Amana Arts Guild offers a rich diversity of programs and activities providing a wide range of cultural experiences in all area of the arts. Established in 1978 as a non-profit organization, the Guild continues to expand its list of programs and serves as a valuable resource for the Amana community, the state of Iowa, and the entire Midwest region. Our educational program includes seasonal classes and summer (July) workshops for children and adults. They include but are not limited to: painting, blacksmithing, basketry, tinsmithing, woodworking, rug weaving, and photography. The Amana Arts Guild encourages efforts of all citizens in the preservation of local cultural heritage.
