Greenland, Iceland and Faroe Islands: An Artistic Investigation Into Identity From The North

With stunning photographic artworks and one-of-a-kind installations, The Weather Diaries probes the roots of fashion in Iceland, Greenland and the Faroe Islands, examining a cultural identity that runs centuries deep and the inescapable impact of nature and weather. Be the first to see this new ASI exhibition created through a prolific collaboration among some of the most gifted designers from the West Nordic islands and the artistic duo of Cooper & Gorfer.

We’re thrilled to welcome special guests including the Swedish-based creators Sarah Cooper and Nina Gorfer, Icelandic fashion designer STEiNUNN and representatives from The Nordic House, Fashion Week Minnesota and the local/international fashion scene, who come together for a lively conversation about “(Re)Framing Northern Identities.”

First Look showcases innovative music by RONiiA, gallery hopping and playful activities led by the Textile Center and the 612 Sauna Society.  The award-winning FIKA Café offers curated appetizers and cocktails, available for purchase.

On Sat. March 25, 10 a.m. & 3 p.m., Cooper & Gorfer will lead exhibition tours. Visit ASImn.org for more information or to purchase tickets. The Weather Diaries is on view March 25-July 2, 2017 and continues the ASI’s year-long examination of Migration, Identity and Belonging.
