(Baraboo, WI) — Workshop: Weave a Large Serving Basket
A THREADED STREAMS FIBER ARTS TRAIL WEEKEND WORKSHOP
The basket is approximately 10” in diameter and 8” high with a wooden base and a color accent middle band that contrasts the natural color of the reed. It is a lovely functional basket that will serve the maker for many years. A person with any level of basket making experience will be able to finish this basket in the one day class. I will bring natural walnut stain as an option for class members to use on their finished baskets for a darker yet natural finish. I will have books and baskets to peruse and look at other pattern possibilities for future baskets they may wish to make. There will be plenty of materials and extra kits for the Large Serving Basket if attendees should want to buy and make a second basket on their own.
Class participants should bring: an apron or workshirt, a rubber wash tub for soaking reed, a sharp pair of shears (or basket making shears if they have them), an old towel, spring type clothes pins or other strong clips (about 10 or so) that would open to about 1” to use for clipping the rim in position as it is lashed in place and a sharp xacto knife (if you don’t have this item I will have several that can be borrowed). Other tools that are needed will be available to use during the class.
