Utilizing flowers dried from 2019 harvest, we will dye a cotton bandanna and a linen/cotton tea towel a sunny yellow. In the process you will learn how to pre-treat the fabric so it will accept the color from the dye liquid and about botanical dyes in general. All materials are natural and sustainable. If there is enough time, we can augment the color by utilizing an indigo vat (hint: the color will then be a green) or with a modifier (supplied) towards a gold color.
Kit fee of $10.00 additional: includes mordant materials, dyestuffs, a cotton bandanna and a cotton/linen tea towel prepared by the instructor to be ready for dye. In addition, participants will have access to tools to make designs if desired (Shibori style) on their fabric items.
