Biographical Info

Ron Turney has only recently begun to learn one of the traditional Ojibwe traditional arts called quill work. He builds traditional Ojibwe quillboxes and other quilled pieces using harvested birch bark from trees and quills from porcupines. He’s careful to say that he looks for roadkill and never hunts porcupine. Ron says he uses the art to tell a bit of his own story. So far, Ron has made quill boxes, necklaces and earrings.
