Baraboo – Portage – Prairie du Sac – Lodi – North Freedom, Wisconsin

March 21 – 23, 2019 10:00 – 4:00 p.m. each day

Dear Friends,

In just a little over two months, members of the threaded Streams Fiber Arts Trail open their doors for all fiber enthusiasts to join them for three days of fiber arts workshops, exhibits, a runway show, maker’s market, studio tours and a lot of fun. They are passionate about fiber arts, promoting arts in general and collaborating with each other.

We like to say, “renew yourself with a creative getaway.” You’ll experience three days of inspiration to enrich your life with hands-on workshops and class offerings.  You can watch experienced artists and artisans demonstrate their skills and chat with the artists. We hope their stories will inspire your story. You’ll want to see Jean Leeson’s quilt exhibit, Prism. It’s Jean first solo exhibit and we know how momentous that experience is! The exhibit is at Tivoli Divine Savior Healthcare in Portage and is organized by Portage Center for the Arts. Also in Portage, the historic Indian Agency House is hosting a benefit for their non-profit. It’s a Historical Fiber Faire where museum volunteers will be demonstrating various tatting, weaving techniques, sewing and quilting from the 19th century.

Helen’s Daughters Studio has organized the wildly fun ‘Fabrication’ The Runway Show’ for the second year on Friday, March 22, 2019. Corralling community volunteers to wear black and walk the runway holding all forms of fiber art is community theatre at its most fun. $10 for first row seating and $5 for all other rows with a 6:30 start time.

Dana Slowiak is a paper artist and is teaching three classes this year. All three are whimsical and fun! The classes are listed below. Spring Creek Art Works is the name of Kipp Inglis’ studio also in Lodi. Maday Delgado is teaching four workshops from improv weaving to ‘big’ slow stitching at Ardyth’s Sew ‘n’ Vac in Baraboo.

The Trail rolls through four towns from Baraboo south to Prairie du Sac then east to Lodi and back up to Portage. North Freedom, just west of Baraboo, is new this year. Mary Luckhardt Klemm has a basketry studio there and will host two day-long basketry workshops. You’ll be meandering throughout the scenic Wisconsin River Valley and Baraboo Hills, so yo might want to book a room at the restored, historic Ringling House Bed & Breakfast in Baraboo or the vintage Victorian Dreams Bed & Breakfast in Lodi and relax. Be sure to support makers and businesses.

Have fun!

Jan Clingman is an official Suri ‘Sertified’ breeder, very knowledgeable about animal husbandry and what it takes to make the highest quality knitting yarn. Shop the Farm Store for finished products, yarn and roving.

We are dedicated to the preservation of the unique, purely suri alpaca. We strive to produce superior commercial characteristics through our breeding program. Our goal is to see the North American suri achieve notoriety as the most exceptional suri in the world.

We acquired a herd of suri alpacas in 2009 and have been breeding, showing and selling alpacas and herdsire services ever since.
