The Cooperage Studio in the Log Cabin

As a designer, over the years, I’ve received several awards for my interior designs. I’ve turned those design skills to designing punch needle patterns. Punch Needle Embroidery is an ancient art. It is believed hollowed out bird bones were first used to mark clothing. While textile remnants have been found all around the world, the one place where there has been a continuous thread is Russia where a group known as the Old Believers have brought this art to the modern world. Folk Artists like myself have been creating pieces since the 1970’s when the Old Believers settled in Oregon and Alaska.

Once a barrel factory, The Cooper’s Cottage in Cedarburg, is now home to me, my Old English Sheep dogs (12-yr old Hattie and 8 month old Rizzo) and where I find inspiration for my punch needle patterns. Everything is made with love by hand. My studio is located in the log cabin at the Cooperage.

My designs are both primitive and whimsical hence the word I use is “Primsical”. My studio includes patterns, over dyed thread kits, hand dyed wools, and select finished items. I teach classes and have all my patterns and supplies for punch needle and wool appliqué. You can find me there by chance or appointment. Please call ahead or email if you plan to visit.
